Boxing coach Reece Bretherton has been awarded Inspire ‘s Volunteer of the Month in recognition of his commitment to delivering boxing to hundreds of young people at Inspire Youth Zone.
Reece who has been boxing for over 58 years and operates Chorley Amateur Boxing Club on Lyons Lane, has been delivering boxings sessions up to 5 times a week at Chorley’s brand-new Youth Zone.
Janine Blythe, Chief Executive said “Reece is so passionate about boxing, not only does he run his own boxing club but he volunteers at Inspire several times a week. Thanks to Reece and his team at Chorley ABC, many young people from across Chorley have now had the opportunity to try boxing at Inspire. We know that Reece’s passion for boxing will Inspire our members to get involved in this fantastic sport! We are very lucky to have Reece on our team and I would like to thank Reece for all his hard work on behalf of our 3,000 members.”
Reece began volunteering in April before the Youth Zone opened officially in May. He has shown tremendous support for the project, ensuring that Inspire launches with a first-class offer.
On accepting the award Reece said “I volunteer at Inspire because I want to give something back to the community. I have gained credit as a boxing instructor for my work with Carl Crook, Michael Jennings and Jack Catterall, who are all National Amateur Champions and Professional British Champions, I hope by volunteering at Inspire, it will give more young people the opportunity to take up the sport.”
Volunteer Manager, Michelle Graham said “The best thing about Reece is everything! He is kind, generous and fantastic with young people. A truly inspirational gentleman inside and out”.
