Inspire Youth Zone members Kai, aged 9 and Carly, aged 10 are getting ready to take to represent their hometown at the Royal Albert Hall this November 17th. Having beaten off competition from around the country, the duo’s band, The Revival, will be performing in front of an audience of 5,000 at OnSide Youth Zones National Award ceremony.

Kai and Carly both joined Inspire Youth Zone over a year ago and since meeting have formed their band and taken to the stage with Kai on guitar and Carly on drums. With their sights set high, the duo sees the Royal Albert Hall performance as a starting point as they have begun recording their debut album to release through the Youth Zone’s very own record label.

The Revival, named so as they plan to revive the music scene across Chorley, have been bought together by youth worker Ryan Whittaker, 27, who saw the potential in young musicians.

Ryan said: ‘They both work really hard and pick things up quickly. I’ve seen them grow and develop with their music and having the natural abilities they do, alongside a solid work ethic, will open up opportunities for them.’

The two young artists have found a second home in Inspire Youth Zone.

Carly said ‘Inspire has changed my life. When I joined, I was going through quite a hard time and Inspire has helped me get through it.

Kai said, ‘When I’m home I’m bored but when I come here there’s something to do.’

The love of performance shines through these young stars. When asked if they were looking forward to the Royal Albert Hall performance, Kai couldn’t believe it and he still thinks it might be a joke. He said, ‘it’s a once in the lifetime opportunity.’

Both young people and parents/carers alike are invited to the huge show at the Royal Albert Hall next month. If you’d like to attend the OnSide Awards with Inspire Youth Zone, you can speak to a member of staff at Inspire’s reception to book your tickets. Tickets are just £3 per person and this includes coach travel to and from the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 17th November.
