And He's Off!!
Tony Newton, for his 90th birthday has again embarked on a ‘Tonys Tremendous Trip’. He will be cycling nearly 460 miles to achieve this trip and at age of 90 I’m sure you will agree this is a huge challenge, all while raising funds for Inspire!
He departed for his lengthy journey to Kyle of Lochalsh via The Isle of Skye, yesterday, Monday 17th June, broken up across 10 days. As a life-long cyclist, he uses his phone as a satnav, keeping tabs with his family over email, and relied on B&B’s along the way for rest stops. He doesn’t see age as a barrier, he just always focuses on the positives and keeps fit cycling over 50 miles a day for fun.
At Inspire, we do more than just offer young people a place to hang out. We transform lives. We work to raise aspirations, enhance prospects, improve health and wellbeing, and support each young person to achieve their full potential. Open 7 days a week when schools are closed, we provide an inspirational environment for local young people and for some, a critical lifeline. Offering everything from climbing to cooking and football to enterprise, there really is something for everyone.
For each visit to our building, it costs us approximately £20 (including staffing, running costs and activity equipment), for every meal we serve, it costs us between £2.50-3.50… but we will never impose this fee on our members. We vow to never charge more than 50p entry and £1 per meal (even then covering the cost for those who would struggle), and all of this is only possible thanks to the support we receive from the community, who help us to raise the £1.6m we need each year to keep our doors open.
Your donation will help us support the young people of Chorley, ensuring that there’s always a listening ear and someone ready to provide information and support. This will help to give our members the opportunities they need to reach their full potential whilst also having fun. You can donate here.
