Inspire's Chair Takes on New Role as Lifetime President

Inspire is delighted to announce that Andrew Turner MBE, the esteemed Chair of our charity, has taken up a new role as Lifetime President. Andy has been a part of Inspire since 2016. As his term as Chair ends this month, his fellow trustees have honoured him with this prestigious role in recognition of his incredible service and unwavering support over the last eight years.

During his term, Andy has been a crucial figure in Inspire’s journey, driving the charity’s mission to support over 11,000 young people in the local area. His leadership has played a huge part in garnering support for us to grow and succeed.

Vice Chair Jim Carter will step into the interim Chair role as the charity embarks on its search for a new Chair who will build on Inspire’s achievements and lead the organisation into the next phase of its journey. This transition period offers a moment to reflect on the key partners and supporters who have been integral to Inspire’s success.

Long before Inspire officially opened, Andy brought together a dynamic board of trustees committed to growth and fundraising, ensuring that Inspire could meet the needs of the local community and support thousands of local young people.

Inspire Youth Zone offers a diverse range of activities such as arts, music, STEM, sports, and more, providing a dynamic hub for Chorley’s community. It is a safe environment where young people and their families can engage in personal development and growth.

Janine Blythe, Inspire Youth Zone CEO, expressed, “It has been an absolute privilege working with Andrew over the last 8 years. His vision and mentorship, sense of purpose and fun has certainly made Inspire the success it is and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Andy’s belief in the transformative power of community engagement and collective responsibility is evident in the success stories and positive changes witnessed over the years.

Andrew Turner MBE, remarked, “I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised by the board and granted this honorary role. The last eight years have flown by, and I am so proud of what the charity and team have been able to achieve over this relatively short period of time.”

Andy continued “As Chair, I have led the way for other local businesses and people to get behind Inspire and do their bit for the community, and I have been absolutely blown away by the generosity that has been shown.  Inspire is a shining example of what can be achieved when we come together and decide to do something fantastic. As I step away from the chair role, I wish the Board and team every success… I’m looking forward to continuing to support Inspire and encouraging others to do the same – if you want to find out how you can get involved – just get in touch with me or Inspires Philanthropy Manager, Jennifer Taylor.”
