Thursday 25th October 2018 saw a number of influential people from the North West visit Inspire Youth Zone for the first time, in an event hosted by Chorley’s own Madame Mayor, Margaret Lees.

Mayors from across Lancashire, as well as members of local councils, were treated to breakfast at the Youth Zone, followed by a short presentation and tours of the brand new youth facility by staff and Inspire’s Young Leaders.

Inspire Youth Zone opened in May 2018 and the charity has since become an integral part of the Chorley community, after registering over 4,800 members.

It was a fantastic opportunity for local Mayors to explore the building, speak with young people and see the positive difference the Youth Zone is making to the lives of thousands of young people in Chorley.

Fundraising Manager, Sara Eltman, hosted the presentation and tours at Inspire and was pleased to see how engaging the young people were with the special visitors.

“It was wonderful to see our young people interacting with our guests, explaining what Inspire is all about and doing us all proud! It’s clear how much the Youth Zone means to them and that was projected amazingly onto everyone they spoke with.”

For the young people at Inspire Youth Zone, it was a day to remember as they met so many incredible figures of Lancashire, with more than one young person pledging their ambition to one day become Mayor themselves.

After their visit to Inspire Youth Zone, Madame Mayor, Margaret Lees, lead the group on their small tour of Chorley’s most impressive spaces, congregating once more at Astley Hall where they visited the war memorial and enjoyed afternoon tea.
