Chorley-based commercial law firm CG Professional has donated £1,000 to Inspire Chorley Youth Zone’s Christmas Appeal to support thousands of local children and young people throughout the festive period.

CG Professional, which has its head office in Chorley, has partnered with Inspire on multiple fundraising objectives since the charity’s launch in 2018. It’s made the significant donation to ensure vulnerable young people across the region continue to have a safe space to visit, with people to talk to and opportunities to try new activities during the colder months and into 2022.

Based on Chapel Street in Chorley, Inspire’s purpose-built facility offers over 20 activities every night of the week for young people aged 8-19 for just 50p per visit. The charity has remained in operation throughout the pandemic, supporting young people with over 30,000 COVID-safe interactions as well as delivering support to the wider community. Last Christmas, the charity distributed over £21,000 food vouchers to families in need and throughout 2021 have cooked and prepared 16,108 free health meals for those in need of extra support.

Stacey Turner, managing partner at CG Professional, said of the donation: “Our relationship with Inspire is incredibly important to us, and we’ve seen for many years just how vital their work in the community is. This becomes even more crucial during the festive period which so many children and their families find hard.

“We know our donation will go a long way to ensuring Christmas can be a little brighter for those who might foresee it being a really hard time, ensuring that any young person in the Chorley area has emotional and practical support to make them feel valued and cared for.”

Karen Hunter, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Inspire, said: “For many of our children and young people, 2021 has been incredibly difficult. In the past six months alone, we’ve received a 400 per cent increase in young people with urgent support needs, requesting someone to talk to and as Christmas approaches our young people will need that more than ever.

“We’re so grateful to CG Professional for their donation to our Christmas Appeal which works to ensure we transform thousands of young lives this festive season and beyond.

“Throughout 2021 they have donated an incredible £7,722 in support of local children and young people, an amazing amount that makes a real difference to our charity.”
